Jerry,

I dove in head first and decided to fly heli's (I really used to hate them with a passion). I have an X-cell Furion 450 that I need to build. I have all the Ray's helicopter DVD series including the set just for electric helis. I think I also have every tool, gauge, meter, etc known to man pertaining to setting up helicopters (doesn't mean I know how to use them...yet). I couldn't make up my mind which power system to use (ESC and motor), so I got 3 different ones (Scorpion, Hacker, and Jazz/Neu). I also have a TT Raptor Titan .50 and a TT Raptor 60/70. What's funny is I barely know how to fly a heli, been flying planes for 25 years (have an Extra 330 with a YS 110). I am currently out of town, but will return hopefully during the first weekend in October. ILet me know if you want to hook up after I get back, been looking for fellow fliers to hang out with.

hi there, i'm glad to find you guys interested in helis. i'm in qatar and would like to join you on this hobby. I've flown 4 channels and trying hard to go 6 channels but having difficulty setting up. i have 2 ESKY Honey Bee K2, one with HH gyro, 3900kV Brushless motor, and have recently obtained metal upgrades and DX7 Tx. Im sure I'll have difficulty setting them up and practising 'till i'm ok. I'd be delighted to join you when you meet up and learn more for i'm considering you as my experts on this. Please let me know if you'll meet up. I'm available on Fridays and after 6pm rest of the week. I just live around the block of Ramada. Cheers!

Hi Nemo,

welcome to the heli madness. As mentioned in this post, I'm currently out of town but hope to return this weekend. Once I get back I would be glad to hook up with you, I'm no heli expert yet, but I am determined to change that quickly. I'm off on Fri and Sat weekly. See you soon.

Hi Guys,
You will find everything you need from building to setting-up your helis found in Finless Bob's Helifreak Tech Room at helifreak website (www.helifreak.com). Here you will learn how to properly use heli tools, the prerequisite of building a heli, a lot of tricks and tips to resolve or avoid some problems in the field and a lot of things.
There are a lot of RC Plane and Heli fliers gathering in Wakra every Friday morning. I believe they are much willing to help you complete your 450 size heli build and set-up.
I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Fernie

Thanks Fernie,

great info on the helifreak site. I ordered everything from Ray's Helitech website, that way I can watch DVD's at work and have a manual handy at the field. I'm looking forward to getting out and meeting the flying group at Wakra.

There are a few of us here who are primarily heli flyers, and take heli flying seriously (in terms of systematic practice of 3D moves etc).  Join us at Wakra on Friday mornings (right at dawn, just as when there is enough light).  In Qatar, we cannot stay in the sun for too long, so people go early and come early.

The existing heli flyers should be able to help you with any kind of build or setup questions, just get in touch with us.

Jerry/Nemo,

since I'm back in town, I'm very eager to get started on this pile of heli stuff I have. I have a few guys that work for me that are all juiced up about R/C heli's and have/ordered heli's of their own. We are all heli noobs (bummer). I am hosting our first unofficial "heli's annonymous" meeting this Friday at my villa to hang out and start work on the Raptor .50, and maybe watch some Rays Helitech DVD's. You two are welcome to come hang out and enjoy some heli fellowship. Trying to start a tradition to keep the hobby fun. It's BYOH (bring your own heli) for maintenance or just to show it off.

Jerry,
tried to call but your cell had issues. Halfway through the Raptor .50 build, it all came to a screeching halt when it came time to put the fan on the crank and realizing I didn't have a socket to fit the nut (have all the tools to tear apart my rail buggy, but not that particular socket, go figure). Anyways, shoot me a text when you get situated.

Nemo,
our first unofficial meet was last Friday, we will have another gathering once my friends Raptor .50 Titan SE gets in (maybe next weekend). Since I have all the tools and such, it will probably be at my place again. I'm almost to the point where I need to breakout all the measuring devices to set up my Raptor Titan for it's first flight. Your more than welcome to come over and hang out, I'll be doing some sort of heli work every weekend (too many projects). Give me a shout later this week?
